May 2010: A Bridge Spanning Time and Trends

To realize the worthy goal of uniting all John McInerneys of the world, it is important that we know one another's stories... and appreciate how exceptional we really are. At the risk of sounding self-indulgent, I admittedly flush with excessive pride at the abilities and accomplishments of my fellow namesakes. Hubris aside, I feel it is my responsibility to shamelessly promote individual accomplishments (a.k.a.: our collective interests) every chance I get.

So in the interest of name-advocacy - and true cross-cultural spirit of this Association - I would like to give prominence to a most appropriate (and as of yet, unofficial) member: John McInerney, the lead singer of the group Bad Boys Blue of Cologne, Germany.

1998 performance of BBB’s chart topper, “Bridge of Heartaches” featuring John McInerney
Since 1984, Bad Boys Blue (BBB) has captivated audiences from Europe to South Africa with an ever-evolving line up of multi-national personnel. BBB established its éclat and signature sound with the 1985 release "You're A Woman", which became a massive hit all across Europe.

Originally designated to background vocals in the group’s earliest formation, the British-born singer soon established himself as the main voice and public face of BBB. By 1987, John had assumed the full leadership role in the group, as well as personifying a symbolic bridge between the group's roots and future aspirations. Now the sole surviving member from the original line up, John has kept the act going strong, maintaining an active touring schedule amidst a steady flow of newly released material. To the delight of a diverse and devoted fan base, John continues to perform his unique Euro-pop formula that has transcended decades of trends and fads.

Through these decades of charting singles, personnel changes, and trans-continental touring - one constant has remained central to the sound of Bad Boy Blue: the voice of John McInerney. In an era where one-hit wonders and fly-by-night acts dominate pop culture, Bad Boys Blue has maintained a rare and remarkable staying-power for over 25 years.

In May 2010, a double album titled "25" is planned for release including brand new remakes and remixes of 25 classic Bad Boys Blue tracks. New tour dates and a new website in support of the album will launch around the same time. Rest assured, the Association will monitor John’s progress as he continues advancing the prestige and prominence of our fine name. For more information, visit the official BBB website at:

Please feel free to pass any stories and comments on to me. If you wish a link or tidbit to appear on this site- send it my way and I will promptly post... If you have something to promote, then I have something to promote. This is your site, I am merely the care taker...

Cheers,
John McInerney
